How Much Do Roller Blinds Cost?

How Much Do Electric Roller Blinds Cost?

When you’re sizing up different roller blinds, it’s always important to bear cost in mind. Nothing says a wasted Tuesday afternoon like researching shading to within an inch of its life, and then finding out that its way out of your budget.

For that reason, we’ve decided to compile a handy guide that shows what you can expect to spend on different shading options, and more importantly, where that money goes.

But firstly, disclaimers.

All prices provided will be rough estimates and may well vary when quoted.

All prices are EXCLUDING VAT.

While we supply manual blinds, this blog mainly focuses on the differences in cost between motorised options.

It’s also worth mentioning that this isn’t by any means an exhaustive list of every option we offer, if you do have any specific preferences or needs, get in touch and we can help work out a solution.

But enough from our lawyers, let’s begin:

HOW MUCH DO ROLLER BLINDS COST? | EVOLVE

Firstly, we’ll price a standard example system, and then look into the different factors that can affect the price.

SIZEWidth: 1600mm x Drop: 1600mm
MOTORSomfy Sonesse 40 6/20
FABRICBand C (Mid Range)
PRICE£700 RRP

So, how do the different options affect the price?

MOTORS

WIRING OPTIONS (POWER & CONTROLS)

The Somfy Sonesse 40 RTS is our standard motor for blinds with wired power, and radio operation. However, you may well find yourself wanting a variation on these options.

WIRED POWER, RADIO CONTROLS: standard system – £700 RRP

WIRED POWER, WIRED CONTROLS: Somfy Sonesse 40 6/20 – £650 RRP

BATTERY POWER, RADIO CONTROLS: Somfy Sonesse 30 3/20 WF – £675 RRP

DIFFERENT MOTORS

If you’re looking for additional features you may find yourself looking at Nice motors, which have quieter operation, obstacle detection and soft start/stop functionality.

Said features mean that these motors do come at a higher cost.

WIRED POWER, WIRED CONTROLS: Nice E-Action SI 620 AC – £900 RRP

WIRED POWER, RADIO CONTROLS: Nice E-Edge SI 620 AC – £920 RRP

FABRICS

All prices so far have been based on a mid-range fabric. All fabrics we offer fall into price bands, ranging from Band A (lowest cost) to Band G (highest cost).

Here’s our standard system priced with the different fabric bands:

BANDPRICE
A£640
B£680
C£700
D£775
E£780
F£790
G£800

Naturally, as the price band goes up so does the quality.

CASSETTE & FASCIA

To add a finishing touch to your blinds, you might consider cassette or fascia style concealment.

Evolve Cassette is a headbox that hides the roller part of the blind, blending the blind seamlessly with the head of the window. Evolve Cassette is a great way to create a concealed blind box look without Blindspace, and covers the mechanism of the blind from all angles.

To add a standard cassette onto our example blind, it would cost around £400 extra, bringing the final cost to around £1,200.

Fascia on the other hand is a slightly cheaper option that still has a lot of style. It comes in the same standard colours as our evolve bracket covers: White, Black, Silver, Champagne, Anthracite and Oyster, and it’s ready fixed brackets make for a very easy install.

As Fascia only covers the top and the front of the blind, it is still possible to see the roller from the bottom and also through the window that the blind is covering.

the cost for Fascia comes out at around £60, being around £770 for the total blind + fascia.

We can also powder-coat both Fascia and Cassette to any RAL colour. Both are ideal for hiding large blinds, being able to span up to 6 meters wide.

HOW MUCH DO BLACKOUT BLINDS COST? | KUROLOK

As with Evolve, the first step is to price up a ‘standard’ system that can then be used to compare different options.

SIZEWidth: 1600mm x Drop: 1600mm
MOTORSomfy Sonesse 40 6/20
FABRICBand C (Mid Range)
PRICE£1,150 RRP

While the standard motor and fabric options are the same as with an evolve system, added parts such as side channels, cassette and zipped edges that make full blackout possible add some cost to the final price.

And now for the comparisons:

MOTORS

WIRING OPTIONS (POWER & CONTROLS)

WIRED POWER, RADIO CONTROLS: standard system – £1,150 RRP

WIRED POWER, WIRED CONTROLS: Somfy Sonesse 40 6/20 – £1,100 RRP

BATTERY POWER, RADIO CONTROLS: Somfy Sonesse 30 2/20 WF – £1,100 RRP

Different Motors

NICE

In a similar vein to Evolve, Nice motors offer a few more features than Somfy options, which again include quitter operation, soft start/stop and obstacle detection.

WIRED POWER, RADIO CONTROLS: Nice E-Edge SI 620 AC – £1,350

WIRED POWER, WIRED CONTROLS: Nice E-Action SI 620 AC – £1,350

LUTRON

Lutron motors boast incredibly quiet operation, market leading hembar alignment and great overall performance. In summary they’re one of the most feature rich motors on the market.

For that same reason, they’re also one of the most costly motors out there.

WIRED POWER, WIERED CONTROLS: Lutron 64 – £2,209

FABRICS

BANDPRICE
A£1,085
B£1,125
C£1,125
D£1,150
E£1,230
F£1,240
G£1,250

WHAT DOES POWDER COATING BLACKOUT BLINDS COST?

For an additional fee, we can also powder coat the hardware of blinds so that they better fit in with the project and don’t become an eyesore.

If you were to add powder coating onto our example blind, the final cost would come out at around £1,250, an additional fee of around £100.

This would of course vary with size of blind, the bigger the system the bigger the fee as a rule.

HOW MUCH DO ROOFLIGHT BLINDS COST? | KUROLOK RL

KuroLok RL is our rooflight blind system. As the name would suggest the KuroLok RL is much the same as KuroLok, with tension boxes and a bottom cassette added to allow the blinds to function horizontally or vertically.

First, a price for our standard rooflight blind:

SIZEWidth: 1600mm x Drop 1600mm
MOTORSomfy Sonesse 40 9/12
FABRICBand C (Mid Range)
PRICE£2,150 RRP

And then, we have the comparisons

MOTORS

WIRING OPTIONS (POWER & CONTROLS)

WIRED POWER, RADIO CONTROL: standard system – £2,150

WIRED POWER, WIRED CONTROL: Nice E-Action SI 1012 AC – £2,275

BATTERY POWER, RADIO CONTROL: Somfy Oximo 40 10/12 – £2,355

DIFFERENT MOTORS

NICE

Due to the fact that we don’t offer a Somfy option for wired power and wired control, a Nice motor is used as default. However, there is also a Nice option for wired power and wireless control:

Wired Power, Wireless Operation: Nice E-Edge SI 1012 AC – £2,550

FABRICS

As the fabric is under tension, rooflight blinds require more robust fabrics than rollers and blackouts. This means that as standard we offer band C, D, E and F fabrics.

BANDPRICE
C£2,150
D£2,150
E£2,250
F£2,270

WHAT DOES POWDER COATING ROOFLIGHT BLINDS COST?

As with our blackout blinds, you can choose to have the hardware of your rooflight blinds powder coated in any RAL colour.

If you were to take our standard system and add a powder coating fee, it would come out at around £2,350, an addition of around £200.

Again, in a similar fashion to our blackout blinds, as you increase the size of your system, you also increase the cost of custom powder coating.

IN SUMMARY

As mentioned at the start of the blog this isn’t by any stretch of the imagination an entire summary of everything that affects price, it’s more of a general guide to show you what you can expect to spend on high end bespoke roller blinds.
