What are the benefits of using a Fibaro smart home?

Security

Fibaro smart home can receive data from motion sensors and send video to your phone when they’re activated. The system can also detect when doors and windows are opened when they’re not supposed to, triggering lighting to come on and an alarm to sound.

This system can even control an intercom so that you can remotely open the door to trusted visitors when you’re not home, and lets you speak to people at the door.

Convenient App

The Yubii app is designed to show you what’s going on in your home at a glance.

In the app, you can create custom lighting scenes, open and close your blinds and curtains, adjust heating and air conditioning and check on your security devices all from your phone. Regardless of whether you’re home or remote, every device in your home can be controlled from the app.

Scenes

Fibaro smart home allows you to create custom scenes with multiple devices, that can be programmed to activate at times that suit you.

You can programme your shades to open in the morning, arm the locks and alarms when you leave for work, set the heating to come on before you get home and more. Even movie night scenes can be set up which could turn off the lights, close the blinds, turn up the heating and turn on the TV all using voice commands.

Voice commands

Fibaro smart home is compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri so you can control your devices with voice commands. Not only is this fun and convenient, but for people with limited mobility, it’s easy to control your devices from wherever you are.

Energy Saving

The Fibaro smart home can monitor the amount of electricity that your devices are using so you can see which ones are using the most energy. Multiple devices can also be programmed to work together to reduce energy usage.

For example, you could use temperature readings from your thermostat to tell your heating when to turn on or off, and when your shading should be open or closed. Dynamic shading i.e., shading that can be adjusted, is best when it’s automated. By automatically opening the blinds when the house is colder to allow in more heat from the sun, or closing them when it’s too warm, you rely less on artificial heating and cooling. This is not only better for the environment but can make a big impact on your energy bills.

So how do you connect your blinds to Fibaro?

Connecting blinds to Fibaro smart home is really simple thanks to the Roller Shutter 3.

The Roller Shutter 3 device is a radio controller based on Z-Wave technology and is powered by a single-phase AC. This device provides precise positioning of blinds, so they can be set to the position you choose. By connecting your blind motor to the Roller Shutter 3, you can use them in scenes, open or close them using voice commands and operate them remotely.

Roller Shutter 3 can control any device that is powered by an AC motor, meaning most hardwired motors can be controlled by the Fibaro smart home system. Some examples of compatible motors are:

  • Somfy Sonesse WT

  • Vestamatic MM/ME

  • Nice Action

  • Elero Roltop
