The Somfy Sonesse range is globally renowned for its integration abilities, silent operation and power. The new Sonesse 40 WF RTS takes this reputation even further by combining high power ability with battery operation and seamless integration into the Somfy ecosystem.

1-year battery life.
Look around your home or workplace. How many battery-operated things can you see which are both used daily and only require a recharge once a year? Chances are, not many.
The Sonesse 40 WF RTS is different. It has a 4600mAh li-ion battery built into the unit. This supersized battery capacity means you only have to charge it once a year (depending on use). When the time comes to charge your motor, simply connect it to the included power adapter and leave it to charge for up to 6 hours.
If your blind is in a really inaccessible spot, you can always opt for Somfy’s solar panel addition, for a truly self-sustaining motorised blind system.
Big power, wherever you need it.
Sometimes, hardwiring a power supply to your blinds isn’t possible. You may not be able to chase cables in walls and ceilings, or simply might not want to due to the disruption it causes.
With this new motor, you not only get big power but also the flexibility to install anywhere you like.
This flexibility is especially useful for installing large blinds in hard-to-reach places, such as landings or rooms with high ceilings.
The Somfy Sonesse 40 WireFree RTS is perfect for powering larger blinds, like our Evolve® Zero system.
WF means ‘wire free’
Unlike many other motors with this power capability, the Sonesse 40 WF RTS comes as a fully self-contained unit. There are no wires for connecting external battery packs as the battery is housed within the frame of the unit.
With a minimum tube diameter of 44mm and a 650mm total length, the Sonesse 40 WF RTS is compact and easy to integrate.
“When would I need a Sonesse 40 WF RTS?”
Somfy’s new motor strikes a critical balance between compactness, quiet operation, flexible installation options and, of course, power.
Umbra recommends this motor for wider blinds that require that little bit of extra capability with weight. It’s also perfect for those looking to power smaller blinds without needing to recharge for longer periods of time, thanks to the huge battery capacity.
While we always recommend hardwiring where possible (for example, in new build properties), we get that this isn’t always possible. The Sonesse 40 WF RTS is a perfect compromise for when you need a powerful motor when hardwiring isn’t an option.
The Sonesse 40 WF RTS is fully interchangeable with the standard wired Sonesse 40. If, for any reason, you need to opt for a battery motor in your blind, this allows you to do so without compromising on power or functionality.
