The Annex, Brecon Beacons:

The owner required a shading solution which struck a perfect balance between privacy, outward visibility and flawless aesthetics with no gaps.  This project is a prime example of how Evolve Zero is the ideal retrofit solution for wide spanning glass and bifold doors where blinds may not have been initially considered.

While Evolve Zero can span widths up to 5m wide, the benefits of zero-deflection technology begin to present themselves on spans wider than 2.7m wide, especially with long drop lengths. The Annex required 2x blinds at 2.9m wide with a 2.1m drop, making it the ideal solution for this project.

The mezenine landing directly above the bifold door would normally be a game stopper for traditional wide-span roller blind manufacturers: likely requiring a 70mm+ tube diameter and a large, noisy, wired motor. Evolve Zero fits in this gap perfectly with a sleek 44mm tube and discreet brackets.

Even though the owner had thought ahead at the design stage with the inclusion of fused spurs at the windows, they opted for a Somfy Sonesse 40 wire-free RTS battery solution to avoid any further messy cable chasing & plastering work. With an estimated 6-month battery life, charging the blinds twice a year was a small price to pay for discretion and wireless flexibility.

At a combined span of nearly 13sqm, they’re by far the largest furnishing pieces in the property, and therefore need to be aesethically perfect. Thanks to Evolve Zero’s many functional benefits, the aesthetic finish was guaranteed long before the blinds were even installed: no need for multiple roller units with several brackets, no mulitple motors, zero fabric ‘sagging’, compact tube sizes and smart hardware finishes.
