A roller blind hembar, or bottom bar, has an important job to do. It gives a rigid leading edge which holds the blind fabric straight and provides weight to help the blind hang well and operate smoothly. But it can be a whole lot more than just functional.
As our range of blind systems continues to expand, so do our options for customisation. A well-chosen hembar is the easiest way to match your blinds with your room aesthetic and design. To help you decide which hembar is right for you, we’ve put together a handy breakdown of our options with images.

Luxury 31 & 39
Luxury 31 and Luxury 39 hembars are our solution for a sleek looking blind that also needs the benefits of having a robust metal hembar. The larger of the two, Luxury 39, is 39mm high and only 12mm deep. At 400 g/m, this is ideal for larger motorised blinds where some weight is required on the fabric. Luxury 31 is similar in weight to our Type 1, at 280 g/m, so is more ideally suited to smaller or manual blinds.
Luxury 31 is available in white, black and brushed silver. Luxury 39 is available in white, black, bronze (pictured), brushed silver, matt silver and shiny silver.
These can be used on our Evolve, Helios, Sirios, Orbis and Solaris systems.
PK & PK-S
Our fabric pocket hembars are a popular choice for residential projects where a discreet look is required or when the blind is being concealed in a pocket. PK and PK-S contain a flat, aluminium bar which gives you an extremely thin and fairly lightweight bottom bar, ideal for smaller blinds. This flat bar is 26mm high and only 4mm thick, and weights approximately 220 g/m.
Our pockets are available with either open (PK) or sealed ends (PK-S), depending on personal preference. This is available on our KuroLok (PK-S only), Helios, Sirios, Orbis and Solaris blind systems.
PK-Z
One of the latest offerings in our range is PK-Z, a fabric wrapped hembar specifically designed for our rooflight systems. In this, the blind fabric is wrapped around our classic Type Z hembar for a more discreet look. This is especially popular in residential buildings where the look of a large aluminium bar might not fit with the aesthetic of a high-end room.
PK-Z and Type Z bottom bars are 50mm high and 22mm deep, and weigh 900 g/m. This is available on our KuroLok RL and KuroLok Twin RL systems.
Type Z
Type Z is our ‘zipper’ bottom bar. This is our standard hembar for our KuroLok and rooflight systems. This 50mm high and 22mm deep bar is well weighted to keep zipped fabrics as smooth as possible. It comes in white and black as standard, but can also be powder coated to any RAL colour.
Type Z and PK-S bottom bars are 50mm high and 22mm deep, and weigh 900 g/m. This can be used on our KuroLok, Helios RL KuroLok RL and KuroLok Twin RL systems.
Type 1
Type 1 hembar is what you’ll see on most of our quotes for standard rollers. Our default hembar is 20mm in diameter, made of rounded aluminium and is fairly lightweight at 240 g/m. Available in white, black, anodised silver and anthracite grey, or powder coated to any RAL colour, there is an option to match most styles. This hembar can also be used with guidewires.
This can be used on our Evolve, Helios, Sirios, Orbis and Solaris systems.
Type 2
Our Type 2 hembar is a teardrop shaped aluminium hembar that is used as standard on our Kuro blackout system. At 36mm high and 18mm deep, with a weight of 435 g/m, this bottom bar is a good option if you need slightly more weight than Type 1 offers to achieve a flat finish on your fabric. This is available in white, black and anodised silver as standard but can also be powder coated to any RAL colour.
This can be used with our Kuro, Evolve, Helios, Sirios, Orbis and Solaris systems.
Type D
Type D hembar is a sleek and stylish option for smaller blinds due to it’s light weight and subtle design. This bar features a flat back and a curved front for some visual interest, and is available in white and anodised silver, or can be powder coated to any RAL colour. This hembar is the one we use with our Sirios and Orbis systems when they have side channels.
Type D bottom bar is 29mm high and 13mm deep, and weighs 295 g/m. This can be used with Evolve, Helios, Sirios, Orbis and Solaris systems.
